Annotation:

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main etiological factor in the development of precancerous changes in the cervix. In this regard, it seems relevant to study the role of different types of HPV in the development of low-severity cervical intraepithelial lesions (LSIL).

Purpose of the review: to present current data on the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnostic capabilities, and treatment tactics for low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions of the cervix.

Material and methods. The information material includes data from scientific articles on the specified topic, contained in PubMed and the Russian electronic library eLibrary.ru and published over the past 20 years. Basic provisions. The review presents issues of etiology, pathogenesis, modern diagnostic capabilities and management tactics for patients with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions of the cervix associated with human papillomavirus infection. The results of numerous studies on the prevalence of HPV of high carcinogenic risk, the safety and effectiveness of targeted therapy for the treatment of low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions of the cervix of the uterus are analyzed, which allows subsequently to avoid aggressive management tactics.

Conclusion. Correct tactics for managing patients with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions of the cervix avoid unnecessary therapy, which is especially important when treating young women of reproductive age planning pregnancy.
