In Russia, about 25 thousand women die annually from infectious and septic complications. A real challenge for modern medicine can be considered the escape from medical control of infections that were previously considered harmless or easily manageable in most patients. Opportunistic microorganisms, along with increased pathogenic properties, acquire factors of resistance to antimicrobial agents - antibiotics. Therefore, traditional treatment regimens often become ineffective, which leads to recurrence of the inflammatory process. The article reflects the experience of using a complex of bacteriophages in the treatment of nonspecific vulvovaginitis. Available data on the use of phage therapy and phage prophylaxis in obstetrics and gynecology show the comparability of the therapeutic effects when used with those when prescribing antibiotics.

Purpose of the study: to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of a complex of bacteriophages (Fagogin gel) in the complex treatment of nonspecific vulvovaginitis.

Material and methods. The study was conducted on the basis of the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution MO MONIIAG. The study involved 60 patients with nonspecific vulvovaginitis. Patients of the first group (n = 30) were prescribed a standard regimen of local anti-inflammatory therapy; patients of the second group (n = 30), in parallel with the main treatment regimen, used a gel with a complex of bacteriophages (Fagogin) topically on the vulva and vagina 2 times a day.

Results. In the second group, already 1 month from the start of treatment, a higher frequency (40%) of relief of the inflammatory process was noted compared to patients of the first group, where normalization of the leukocyte reaction was found in only 20% of patients. Lactoflora 1 month after the start of therapy was also more normalized in patients of the second group compared to the first group (33 and 47%, respectively), and after 2 months in patients of the second group it was possible to completely normalize the vaginal biocenosis, whereas in the first group in 23 .3% low content of lactobacilli remained.
