Annotation:

Behavioral neuroscience is a branch of neuroscience that studies the effects of cerebral disease or dysfunction on cognition and behavior. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of diseases with cognitive disorders. The article provides a clinical description of the most common neurocognitive syndromes in practice, such as cognitive impairment of the Alzheimer's type, subcortical cognitive impairment and frontotemporal syndrome. Clinical and psychological methods for diagnosing the main neurocognitive syndrome, as well as methods for verifying the diagnosis of a particular cerebral disease (neuroimaging, biomarker research) are discussed in detail. Modern recommendations for the management of patients with cognitive disorders are provided depending on the severity of the disorders and nosological diagnosis. The place of neurometabolic therapy in the treatment of cognitive impairment that does not reach the level of dementia is discussed in detail.
