Today, the problem of reducing the level of social contacts and loneliness is extremely acute. Numerous studies have demonstrated a connection between the presence of social contacts and the state of the cognitive sphere. A limited number of social contacts is associated with a higher risk of developing dementia. The presence of such a connection may

be explained by a decrease in cognitive reserve, increased stress reactivity, a number of endocrinological and behavioral changes, and a higher prevalence of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes mellitus. Social isolation has a particularly negative impact on individuals who already have cognitive impairment.

Developing interventions that include enhancing social participation and maintaining emotionally supportive relationships may help prevent cognitive impairment and reduce risk. It is advisable to additionally use drugs that have a neuroprotective effect. One of them is a reversible blocker

NMDA receptors memantine (Akatinol), the effectiveness of which has been confirmed in numerous studies.
