ADVANTAGES AND POTENTIAL OF PRACTICAL COLPOSCOPY FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF CERVICAL CANCER

Annotation:
Colposcopy, used to detect cervical pathology, is considered one of the precise instrumental methods. It helps detect precancerous diseases of the cervix, vagina and vulva, as well as cervical cancer (CC).
The purpose of the study is to review the world literature on the history of the emergence and development of colposcopy as a method for diagnosing cervical diseases.
Material and methods. The information material includes data from scientific articles available in PubMed and the Russian electronic library eLibrary.ru on this topic and published over the past 20 years.
Results. An analysis was carried out of the data contained in modern literature on the development of colposcopy as one of the simple and effective methods for diagnosing precancerous diseases of the cervix and cervical cancer, on the emergence of improved colposcopes to eliminate the subjectivity of this method.
Conclusion. Carrying out colposcopy in women with cervical diseases is an important and necessary condition for the prevention and treatment of precancerous diseases of the cervix and cervical cancer by identifying foci and boundaries of the lesion, differentiating benign from malignant changes to carry out targeted biopsy and taking cytological smears.
